Bobcat Women Prepare for Blue-Gold Scrimmage

Tricia Binford enters her 17th year as head coach of the Montana State women's basketball program with the same enthusiasm she enjoyed prior to her inaugural season in 2005-06.
And with the buzz of preseason practice coupled with the playing of its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage her current squad knows it signals the commencement in charting the course for the 2021-22 campaign.
MSU plays its Blue-Gold scrimmage on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. in Worthington Arena. The event is free and open to all fans. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
"It's going to be amazing to be in front of our fans again," Binford said. "The Blue-Gold scrimmage will give us a good look at different rotations, different chemistry mixes, as we have a lot of depth at each position, and to see if we can take our defensive communication to the next level.
"For the fans, they'll get a real-time live look at the team," Binford stated. "Having our fans back is the main thing we've been looking forward too and they'll get a good opportunity to see each athlete perform on Wednesday night."
The Bobcats return 11 letterwinners, including four starters in Darian White, Kola Bad Bear, Katelynn Limardo and Gabby Mocchi. In addition, MSU welcomes three newcomers: Mia Hughes, Casey Ardern and Lindsey Hein.
Last winter, Binford's squad posted a 17-7 overall mark and 13-3 Big Sky ledger with one of the youngest groups in the nation. With another year of experience, the Bobcats look to use its experience as a springboard into the upcoming season.
"It took us awhile to find our identity last season," Binford said. "I think this year our identity is more clearly defined. It's using our depth, being attack-minded and finishing plays."
