MSU continues to improve men's tennis roster
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State improved its men's tennis roster by adding a highly-rated prep tennis standout Tuesday, signing Jakob Mosvold to a National Letter-of-Intent.
Mosvold comes to Montana State as a four-star recruit from Houston (Texas) Christian High School, where he won state championships as a sophomore and junior before the 2020 season was cancelled. He won the clinching match in leading his school to the 2019 state crown, and earned All-SPC honors in both tennis and soccer. Tennisrecruiting.net ranks Mosvold the No. 10 prospect in Texas and No. 114 in the U.S.
"Today is a truly amazing day for the Bobcat tennis program," said MSU coach Trey Morris. "Being able to round out our recruiting class with a player of Jakob's quality speaks to the energy and growth surrounding our program here in Bozeman. Coming from a 'tennis family' and having won multiple high school team championships, Jakob will bring a wealth of winning experience and passion to our program. With his talent and athleticism, we truly believe the sky is the limit for Jakob's tennis. We cannot wait to see how far he will go in the Blue and Gold."
Mosvold's mother Stina Mosvold played and coached tennis at the University of Houston, and his sister Linnea plays soccer at Colorado Christian. He impressed in Junior USTA competition, winning or finishing runner-up in five National Open events from Oklahoma to Virginia in the past two years.
"I am looking forward to playing for MSU and hope to contribute greatly to making this team the best," Mosvold said. "I am so grateful for getting this opportunity to continue my education and tennis here at Montana State. Go Bobcats!"
