Bobcat Track & Field Among Contenders in Big Sky Coaches Preseason Poll

MSU's men's and women's programs were selected by the league's coaches to finish second and third, respectively, at this season indoor conference championships
FARMINGTON, Utah – The Big Sky Conference released its 2020 Indoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches Polls on Monday, Jan. 6. The Montana State men's and women's programs were picked to finish second and third, respectively, by the league's head coaches.
The Northern Arizona men earned nine first-place votes and garnered 119 points in the poll. The Bobcat men's program garnered a first-place vote and 96 points to sit in second. Following MSU was Southern Utah (86) and Idaho (74). Eastern Washington and Weber State each recorded 72 points, but Weber State also received a first-place vote.
MSU's women's squad was picked to take third at this season's upcoming indoor track and field championships behind Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. The Hornets are the reigning indoor champions and received 116 points behind seven first-place votes. NAU was close behind with 108 points and four-first place votes. The Bobcats (92) were ranked ahead of Weber State (83), Southern Utah (76) and Montana (64).
The Montana State men's and women's track and field teams each earned runner-up finishes at the 2019 Big Sky Indoor Championships held in Bozeman. The Bobcat men's showing was their best since 2013 and the women's finish was their best since the 2015 indoor championships.
Montana State makes its 2020 debut as a team on Friday, January 17, when the Bobcats take part in the Stacy Dragila Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho.
