The Montana State women’s golf team got off to a rough start to its Wyoming Cowgirl Classic appearance as the Bobcats sit in a tie for 19th after two rounds
MARICOPA, Ariz. – The Montana State women's golf team got off to a rough start to its Wyoming Cowgirl Classic appearance as the Bobcats sit in a tie for 19th after two rounds with 611 strokes at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
The Bobcats shot consecutive rounds of 310 and 311 as a team. Leading the competition is UTEP with a team score of 586 strokes.
Junior Kelly Hooper carded Montana State's best round of the day by firing a 1-under-par 71. Her second set of 18 holes was highlighted by six birdies with four coming on the back nine. Hooper bounced back after a tough opening round of 82 and is tied for 51st at 9-over 153.
Senior Clare Dittemore and freshman Sofia Rodriguez Todd had the top first round scores for the Bobcats as Dittemore shot a 74 and Rodriguez Todd recorded a 75. Rodriguez Todd followed her 75 with a 79 in the second round and is tied for 61st with a 154. Dittemore carded a second-round 82 and is tied for 74th with a 156.
Delaney Elliott is tied for 92nd after registering back-to-back rounds of 80 strokes. Coral Schulz shot an 82 and an 80 and is tied for 96th with a 162.
New Mexico State's Suthavee Chanachai is first in the individual standings at 8-under 136.
The Bobcats return to play the final round of the Cowgirl Classic at 7:30 a.m. MDT on Tuesday in Maricopa.
