Multiple Bobcats Complete Standout Performances at War XII Meet

Montana State had a variety of highlight efforts that led the Bobcats in their appearance at the War XII Meet on the campus of Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday
SPOKANE, Wash. – Montana State had a variety of highlight efforts that led the Bobcats in their appearance at the War XII Meet on the campus of Spokane Falls Community College on Saturday, April 6.
Eight different Bobcats earned at least one top-10 showing in the meet held against several Northwest Region universities.
The women's team had three competitors that earned top-three finishes. Carley VonHeeder took runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 148 feet, 2 inches(45.17m). She was followed by Celestia Hammond who placed third with a mark of 145-00 (41.99m). Madi Arneson also had a runner-up finish for the Bobcats as she led the Bobcats in the discus with a toss of 141-06 (43.14m).
Brock Winegar, Josh Mertz and Brock McCue each completed a finish in the top 10 for the Bobcat men, while Jordan Fink represented the MSU women in the top 10 of an event.
Winegar placed fifth in the men's javelin with a throw of 178-05 (54.38m). Mertz paced the Bobcat men in the shot put by taking sixth behind a mark of 50-09.25 (15.47m). McCue, who took 11th in the shot put, led MSU in the hammer throw by reaching a distance of 153-08 (46.81m).
Fink finished seventh in the women's shot put behind a toss of 39-09.75 (12.13m).
Kylie Christiansen, Brookelyn Palin and Hannah Wheeler all represented the Bobcat women's squad at the War XII competition. Christiansen placed 10th in the hammer throw (133-04) and 11th in the javelin (125-07). Palin appeared in two events taking 14th in the hammer (128-10) and 16th in the discus (123-09). Wheeler finished 13th in the javelin with a throw of 122-07 (37.37m).
Ethan Saberhagen participated in the men's competition for the Bobcats and finished as high as 23rd in the hammer throw behind a mark of 120-10 (36.82m)
The Montana State track and field team returns to action when the Bobcats travel to California for the Triton Invitational from April 12-13.
