Montana State Golf Wraps up Day One at GCU Invitational

Junior Delaney Elliott led the Montana State golf team through the opening day of the Grand Canyon Invitational on Saturday
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Junior Delaney Elliott led the Montana State golf team through the opening day of the Grand Canyon Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 23, which will resume play in the second round on Sunday.
Elliott carded an 8-over-par 80, but is currently only 2-over through 14 holes in the second round. She's tied for 53rd overall in the individual standings.
MSU junior Kelly Hooper is right behind Elliott in the individual standings. Hooper recorded an 81 in the first round and is also 2-over through 14 holes in the second round. She's tied for 59th overall.
Coral Schulz fired a team-best 78 in the first set of 18 holes for the Bobcats. Her score was bolstered by a hole-in-one on the second hole of the GCU Golf Course, the first of her collegiate career. She teed off on the second hole with a 7-iron and connected with the pin from 150 yards out on the par 3. She's currently 7-over in the second round and is in a tie for 77th at 13-over-par.
Lilly Navarre and Hailey Oster round out MSU's lineup. Navarre is tied for 87th at 15-over and Oster is tied for 102nd at 22-over.
The Bobcats return to play on Sunday with their remaining holes of the second round set to begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
