The Montana State women’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at the University of Portland on Friday afternoon at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center.
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Montana State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at the University of Portland on Friday afternoon at the Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center.
Portland got on the board first winning the double point. Both squads split matches at Nos. 2 and 3, before UP's top duo of Jelena Lukic and Anna Oberg defeated MSU's Laura Mary and Linnea Fristam in a hard-fought 6-4 outcome. Montana State's No. 3 tandem of Sarah Cheverie and Annie Walker captured a 6-2 win over Angela Schuster and Laura Okazaki.
The Pilots went up 2-0 as Lukic handed Mary a 6-1, 6-1 setback at the top spot. Annie Walker continued her stellar play with a win at No. 2 singles for MSU's lone point of the match. Walker downed Raphaelle Leblanc 6-1, 6-3.
Portland put the match away with victories at Nos. 3-6 singles despite two three set wins over MSU's Fristam at No. 3 singles and Enni Zander at No. 4 singles.
The Bobcats will play Portland State on Saturday morning.
