Bobcats add junior college duo and freshman center during spring recruiting period
BOZEMAN, Montana – Montana State's 2018-19 men's basketball roster came into clearer focus this week, when Tyler Hall announced his return to the Bobcats by withdrawing from the NBA Draft and returning for his senior season and Montana State coach Brian Fish formalized the addition of three recruits who joined the program during the spring.
Hall participated in the evaluation process for the 2018 NBA Draft before withdrawing on Wednesday. The 6-5 senior led the Cats with 17.5 points a game last season, and his 1,861 career points is third in MSU history and 10th-most in Big Sky Conference annals. Hall has hit 312 career three-pointers is the most in MSU history, and third-most in the history of the conference.
"Tyler took advantage of the process the NCAA laid out for players to learn from NBA teams where they stand in the upcoming draft," Fish said. "It was a great experience for him, and he and his family gained valuable information."
Fish is also pleased with the new additions to the MSU roster. Ladan Ricketts is a 6-5 forward originally from Livingston, Montana, who averaged 11.7 points a game while shooting 40% from three-point range (95-221) at Sheridan (Wyoming) College last year. He arrives at MSU as a junior. "Ladan can shoot the ball, and we are ver excited for Ladan to join the Bobcats," Fish said.
Junior Russell Daniels is a 5-11 guard originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who transfers to MSU from Southwestern Florida College. "I like Russell's toughness and ability to run an offense," Fish said. "I'm excited for the experience and ability he brings to our program."
Freshman Max Schuecker joins the program as a 6-9 center from Modling, Austria. He's played a total of 74 games over the last three seasons for Redwell Gunners Oberwart in the professional Bundeslig in Austria on an amateur exemption. "Max is a strong, physical player who gives us a presence inside," Fish said.
