Montana State's Jaynes Earns Repeat Big Sky Weekly Honors

The Big Sky Conference named Montana State's Amanda Jaynes its Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, April 17, giving the Bobcat senior the award for the second consecutive week
OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference named Montana State's Amanda Jaynes its Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday, April 17, giving the Bobcat senior the award for the second consecutive week.
Jaynes continued her strong start to the outdoor campaign with her performance at the Triton Invitational on April 14. Jaynes placed first in the 400 hurdles in a time of 58.19 seconds, which is the 16th fastest in Division I track and 10th fastest in the West Region. That mark is also just three-hundredths of a second behind her lifetime best. She also tied a personal-best mark of 13.91 in the 100 hurdles which was good for fifth place. That mark is the 64th fastest in the event among West Region competitors.
The weekly honor from the Big Sky Conference is the third for Jaynes in 2018. She was selected by the conference as the Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week on April 10 and was given the award during the indoor season on Feb. 20.
Montana State's track and field will have multiple student-athletes return to California this weekend for the Bobcats' final trip outside of Montana ahead of the Big Sky Conference Championships. The Bobcats will have athletes competing in the Mt. SAC Relays, Beach Invitational and Pacific Coast Intercollegiate from April 19-21.
