Bobcats Jump Two Spots at PSU/EWU Invite Following Second Round

Montana State moved up two positions in the team standings and sit in a tie for third overall after shooting a 302 during the second round of play Wednesday, March 28, at the Portland State/Eastern Washington Invitational
CHANDLER, Ariz. – Montana State moved up two positions in the team standings and sit in a tie for third overall after shooting a 302 during the second round of play Wednesday, March 28, at the Portland State/Eastern Washington Invitational at Ocotillo Golf Club.
The Bobcats improved from fifth to a tie with Seattle with 615 strokes through the first two rounds of play. Portland State leads the way with a 580, while the Vikings are followed by UMKC at 605.
Sophomore Delaney Elliott put together a solid second consecutive round by firing a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Bobcats. Her two-round score of 145 has her alone in third place, trailing only Portland State's Tara Finigan (141) and Valerie Hernandez (144).
MSU sophomore Kelly Hooper is tied for eighth with a 148 after shooting a second-round 75. Senior Jaylee Tait matched Elliott's Wednesday performance and leapt up the individual standings to 12th. Clare Dittemore, competing as an individual, carded a 3-over 75 during the second round and is tied for 33rd at 159 strokes.
Rounding out MSU's lineup were Lilly Navarre and Coral Schulz. Navarre sits in 37th after a second-round 85 and Schulz is in 39th after shooting a 94.
"We had four players today that showed up," Montana State head coach Brittany Basye said. "They are hitting well and have some confidence. We have one more day to get everyone involved and Delaney, Kelly, Jaylee and Clare need to keep doing what they did today. I'm proud of them for coming back today with one more round to go."
Montana State has one round remaining at the PSU/EWU Invitational. The first group is set to tee off at Ocotillo Golf Club at 8 a.m. MDT with live results available at golfstatresults.com.
