Bobcat Women Face Montana Western in Exhibition Game

“We definitely would like to start seeing some rotations and establish a flow,” Binford said. “We’ll want to see how those line-ups come up with rebounds. We’re excited to get out in uniform and in front of our fans.”
The Montana State women's basketball team will host the University of Montana Western in exhibition play, Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. in Worthington Arena. It will be the first of a double-header as the Bobcat men host the Bulldogs, as well, following the women's contest.
The game with Montana Western will give MSU head coach Tricia Binford a good look at her squad against competition other than themselves and scout team players.
"We're looking forward to seeing how much we've improved since the Blue/Gold Scrimmage," Binford said. "We had some things we had to simplify and execute a lot better. I'd love to see some habits on the defensive end, but most importantly, on the offensive end just starting to take care of the ball a little bit better."
Binford welcomes back six letterwinners, including a pair of starters in Oliana Squires and Blaire Braxton. In addition, two transfers and five freshmen will also make their debut in the Blue and Gold. The exhibition contest will be MSU's final tune-up before opening the season when it hosts Carroll College on Nov. 6.

Montana Western is coming off a 27-9 overall mark and a 13-5 Frontier Conference ledger. The senior laden squad finished ninth in the final NAIA poll last winter and return Frontier Conference Player and Newcomer of the Year Brianna King, along with all-conference performers Britt Cooper and Cierra Lamey.
"Montana Western is a nationally ranked team and are coming off an outstanding season," Binford said. "They are well-coached and we know we'll see a lot of different action. The great thing about these games is that you can focus more on yourself. We're excited to get the season going."
