Junior Kyle Douglass put a cap on the Bobcat men's outdoor campaign by competing in the discus at the West Preliminary Round Saturday
AUSTIN, Texas – The Montana State men's track and field team's season came to an end as Kyle Douglass wrapped up competition for the Bobcats at the NCAA West Preliminary Round Saturday, May 27, at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Douglass placed 28th in the discus with a throw of 175-02 (53.41m). That mark came from his second of three throws as part of the third heat of the event.
The Missoula, Mont., native faulted on his first throw and completed his West Prelims appearance with a third toss of 162-07.
The junior was the lone Bobcat to compete Saturday on the University of Texas campus. He concludes the men's team's 2017 outdoor campaign after previously taking first and second in the shot put and discus, respectively, at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
"Six out of the nine student-athletes here will return for another day for the first round of the NCAA Championships in all likelihood," Montana State head coach Dale Kennedy said. "Certainly, they will benefit from the experience at this outdoor meet."
Montana State sophomore Alyssa Snyder extended her season by qualifying for the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships in the women's 10,000-meter run. She will run at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus, with the championships set to start on June 7.
