Ferris Named Big Sky Player of the Week

For the second time this season, Montana State’s Peyton Ferris has been named the Big Sky Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Ferris, a senior from Twin Bridges, Mont., helped carry the Bobcats to a come-from-behind overtime victory at Montana, posting game highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds along with a career-high five blocks. She recorded her seventh 20+ point game and second double-double of the season. Ferris shot 11 of 22 from the field, hit two of three 3-point attempts and additionally notched three assists and two steals.
The preseason Big Sky MVP had 14 of her points in the second half behind a stellar fourth quarter that included nine points, four offensive rebounds, a block and two steals. With MSU trailing 60-51 with two-and-a-half minutes remaining in regulation, the Bobcats used a 9-0 surge to force overtime. Ferris hit just her 12th 3-pointer of the season during that run and she added two assists and a jumper in overtime to extend the run to 18-1.
MSU went on to defeat the arch rival Lady Griz 75-69 in front of a crowd of 3,223 fans in Dahlberg Arena. The Bobcats maintained sole possession of the No. 3 spot in the league standings with a 9-2 Big Sky record and have now won five straight games.
Ferris ranks second in the league in scoring, sixth in rebounding and field goal percentage while being first in offensive boards. During conference play, Ferris is averaging a league-high 18.9 points a game while ranking 10th in rebounding and field goal percentage.
