Tyler Hall's 37 points and Zach Green's double-double lead the way
Montana State defeated arch-rival Montana 78-69 Saturday in front of the first sellout in Brick Breeden Fieldhouse since 2003.
Sophomore Tyler hall put on a show for the 6,772 present, setting the Bobcats single-season scoring record while scoring 37 points on 11-of-13 shooting, 6-8 from three-point range. Junior Zach Green held his own down low, registering a double-double with 12 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
The first half of the Brawl of the Wild matchup was an even effort. The Grizzles led at the break 32-31, but Hall struck first after intermission. He scored five straight points as the Bobcats took control and led for rest of the game. Hall knocked down 4-of-4 3-pointers in the second half.
Ahmaad Rorie led the Griz in scoring with 19.
With the win, Montana State passes Montana and tie Idaho for fourth place in the Big Sky. Montana falls to 14-15 on the year, 9-7 in conference play.
The Bobcats, winners of nine of their last 11, close the regular season on the road at Idaho State on Thursday and Weber State Saturday. Both games begin at 7 pm.
