Montana State's junior sharp-shooter is climbing MSU, Big Sky record lists
BOZEMAN, Mont. – It's a result likely to be repeated many times, but Tyler Hall's relentless march up Montana State's career record lists culminated in fitting fashion Thursday when the Bobcat junior claimed the school's all-time three-point field goals record.
Hall tied the record on career three-pointer no. 263 with 15:28 to play in the first half, and less than a minute later nudged Bobcat legend Danny Sprinkle into second place in school history with no. 264. Hall finished the game with eight triples, boosting his career total to 266 in 76 career games. His 3.50 three-pointers per game throughout his two-plus seasons as a Bobcat is the best rate among active Division I players, and his 3.85 per game this season is eighth in the nation.
The Rock Island, Illinois, product has scored 1,560 points in his Bobcat career. That mark is good for 27th in Big Sky Conference annals, and is fourth all-time at MSU. His sights are now set on Tom Domako, who finished his Bobcat career with 1,841 points (1984-88), and Nate Holmstadt (1995-99), who scored 1,864. Larry Chanay scored 2,034 points as a Bobcat (1956-60).
Hall and the Bobcats play at Northern Arizona on Saturday at 5 pm.
