Utah State Uses Fast Second Half Start to Topple Bobcats

MSU falls 81-73 in Logan on Monday
Utah State used a 20-8 run in first eight minutes of second half on its way to an 81-73 win over Montana State in Logan on Monday.
The Bobcats, who led 41-40 at halftime, closed to six a couple of times late in the game, but couldn't overcome a USU squad that Brian Fish said converted too many easy offensive possessions. "Our guys will fight," Fish said of his team's competitiveness, "but we just weren't a cohesive unit on defense. We gave up too many easy shots."
The led to Utah State shooting 56% from the floor on Monday, while the Aggies held Montana State to 32% shooting in the second half and 43% in the game. USU outrebounded the Cats 41-to-28. Tyler Hall and Harald Frey led the Bobcats with 15 points each, and Joe Mvuezolo Jr. added 12 for Montana State. Koby McEwen led all players with 20 points.
Each team's record levels to 1-1 with Monday's contest. The Bobcats return home to host UM Western as part of a men's/women's doubleheader on Wednesday. Tipoff for the men's game is 8 pm.
