Two-Time Defending Big Sky Champs Host Open Practice on Friday

The two-time defending Big Sky Conference champion Montana State women’s basketball team will hold an open practice on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. in Worthington Arena
The two-time defending Big Sky Conference champion Montana State women's basketball team will hold an open practice on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m. in Worthington Arena. The Bobcats, who captured the Big Sky title last season and made its first NCAA appearance since 1993, opened its preseason drills on Oct. 2.
"It's important to get some game-like film on our players," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford, who enters her 13th season with the Bobcats. "It's an opportunity to work on some rotations, put our break-downs into game-like situations and get our cardio going."
A trio of seniors will pace this year's squad, led by returning starters Hannah Caudill and Delany Junkermier. Binford also welcomes back Rebekah Hatchard, Blaire Braxton, Madisyn Shaide, Madeline Smith and Oliana Squires.
Seven newcomers will also be part of Friday's practice, including transfers Claire Lundberg and Martha Kuderer. The duo, who transferred from Seton Hall during the offseason, will have to sit out the 2017-18 campaign under NCAA transfer rules.
Led by Big Sky MVP Peyton Ferris and all-conference performer Riley Nordgaard, the Bobcats posted a 25-7 overall record and a 15-3 league ledger, last winter. The 25 victories are the most in MSU history.
Friday's practice is free and open to the public.
The Bobcats will open their season on Nov. 1 when its hosts Montana Tech in exhibition action.
