Ferris Earns Big Sky Conference Weekly Honor

Montana State senior Peyton Ferris earned Big Sky Conference Player of the Week accolades after her outstanding performances in MSU's victories over Eastern Washington and Idaho, last week.
The Twin Bridges product averaged 26 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. For the weekend, the preseason Big Sky MVP pick shot an impressive 64.5 percent from the field, 75 percent from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the free throw line.
"Those two games were Peyton at her best," said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. "She is one of our leaders and sets the tone for us on the floor. She played at a very consistent level and was resilient in two tough games."
Ferris had her best outing in MSU's overtime win over EWU with a season-high 30 points. Against the Eagles, she also added a game-high nine rebounds and chipped in three assists and a steal.
She followed the Eastern Washington performance with a game-high 22 points versus Idaho, despite foul trouble which saw her play only 18 minutes. Against the Vandals, she connected on nine-of-14 from the floor, which included a three-of-four effort from long distance. Ferris also notched an assist and a steal in front of a season-high 1,667 fans, which included over 250 spectators on hand from Twin Bridges to celebrate the former Falcon great.
"From a team standpoint, we had an excellent weekend," Binford said. "We're at our best when everyone is involved, and Saturday's atmosphere, with the Twin Bridges community in attendance, was phenomenal. We will look to continue this level of play as we face two very difficult road games."
Montana State will play at North Dakota on Thursday night, before finishing the weekend at Northern Colorado on Saturday afternoon.
