Bobcats Open Basketball Practice Friday

Solid core of perimeter players lead the way
Brian Fish knows it will take some time and work, but he likes where his third Montana State men's basketball team is heading.
"I like where we're going, but we've got a lot of work to do," Fish says. "We've got to work hard."
The next phase of the hard work facing the 2016-17 Bobcats begins Friday at 5 pm, when the team officially assembles for its first fall practice in Worthington Arena. Through the summer and fall the team has pieced together the allowed practice sessions and plowed through conditioning work. It has added a large number of newcomers and subtracted a small number from last season.
Three starters return from 2015-16, led by Big Sky Freshman of the Year Tyler Hall. The heralded guard scored 578 points as a freshman, draining 96 three-pointers. Zach Green, a 6-4 junior, and 6-3 senior Quinton Everett also return for the Bobcats. "I really like the step forward in leadership those returning guys have taken," Fish said.
Three-year starting point guard Marcus Colbert graduated, and much of the season's early work involves getting freshman Harald Frey and sophomore Devonte Klines functioning in the backcourt. Inside, transfer Benson Osayande (6-9) and freshman Devin Kirby (6-10) join the mix. Junior college transfer Joe Mvuezolo Jr. is an athletic 6-6 wing with an inside-out game who projects to provide valuable minutes and production immediately.
Fish looks forward to the 36 days the span Friday's opening practice and the November 4 exhibition game against UM Western that sends the Bobcats on the four-month journey that culminates in the Big Sky Championship Tournament in Reno on March 7-11.
"We have a lot of development and a lot of work ahead of us," he said.
