Buzz From Montana State's Historic Three-Point Shooting Continued Friday

MSU's 25 three-pointers stands as the third-most in NCAA DI history
It was the universal refrain after Montana State's jaw-dropping three-point shooting in Worthington Arena on Thursday.
"Nope," everyone queried responded when asked if they'd ever witnessed anything like the game the Bobcats had enjoyed the night before. "Never."
Few had. Montana State's 25 three-pointers stand not only as school and Big Sky Conference records (the previous MSU record was 18, set in Fish's first season on the Bobcat bench in 2014-15), but were historic nationally. It was the second-highest total an NCAA Division I school ever made against a Division I opponent (Troy hit 28 against James Madison), and it is the most three-pointers made in Division I this season.
Freshman Tyler Hall was remarkable. He drained eight three-pointers, one short of the MSU record and four shy of the league mark. Sam Neumann, a freshman who had hit just three triples in the entire season before Thursday, tied a school record for three-point percentage in a game with a dazzling 5-for-5 effort from the arc. Seven different Bobcats drained three-pointers. On the other end of the equation, Nahjee Matlock doled out 10 assists, and senior stalwart Marcus Colbert seven.
The performance turned plenty of heads across the college basketball landscape. ESPN SportsCenter's West Coast anchor Neil Everett dedicated a minute to it on the 11 pm MT broadcast. Such hoops luminaries as Doug Gottlieb and Jeff Goodman tweeted about the barrage. Video of the night's events went viral.
"I got calls from all over," Fish said. "Literally. All over the country."
Voice of the Bobcats Jay Sanderson concurred. "I started getting texts from friends in broadcasting all over the country (Thursday) night," he said. "It's amazing how fast the word about something like that gets around."
