Tyler Hall Named to All-Big Sky Preseason Team

Hall is the only sophomore, and one of just two underclassmen, honored
Montana State men's basketball coach Brian Fish is pleased that Tyler Hall earned selection to the 2016-17 Preseason All-Big Sky Conference Team, which the league announced Wednesday.
Fish's concern lies in a different list Hall will undoubtedly headline this season.
"Tyler has a chance to understand, but he has something coming down the pike at him that he hasn't experienced," Fish said. "Marcus (Colbert) was at the top of the scouting report last year for us. This year Tyler's at the top."
Hall is one of five chosen for the Big Sky preseason all-league team. He joins preseason MVP Quinton Hooker from North Dakota, Weber State's Jeremy Senglin, Walter Wright of Montana, and Idaho State's Ethan Telfair, all seniors. Idaho's Victor Sanders, a junior, is the only other underclassman on the team. Everyone on the team is listed as a guard.
Hall earned his way to the top of the scouting report for Bobcat opponents with an outstanding freshman campaign. The 6-4 guard scored 561 points, most ever by a Bobcat freshman and ninth-most in a season at MSU, while his 155 rebounds was second-most by a Bobcat frosh. He earned Big Sky Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Big Sky honors.
Fish said Hall has worked hard, and benefits from having worked his way through a season of Division I basketball. "You're definitely more comfortable your second time around," Fish said. But he cautions that preparing Hall for the gauntlet likely faces in 2016-17 occurs in a lab-like setting.
"We're trying to help him to understand what he's getting ready to face when maybe we can't duplicate that type of pressure (in practice)," he said. "That will constantly be a challenge for Tyler. It's no longer, 'Who is Tyler Hall?' It's, 'We have to stop Tyler Hall.'"
