Bobcats Host Idaho State, Montana and Utah State on Friday

With one meet under their belts, the Montana State track and field team has hit nine Big Sky Conference championship qualifying marks, with eleven athletes ranking in the top 10 of the conference. The Bobcats will host Idaho State and Montana along with Mountain West member Utah State.

After a solid freshman season, Kyle Douglass is back and ready to compete. The sophomore threw a personal-best shot put of 55-04.25 in the opening meet, winning the event with ease. Douglass currently leads the conference and ranks among the top 40 in the country.
Jessica Chrisp and Danielle Rider are filling the void for Big Sky Conference champion Carley McCutchen, sitting at 18th and 19th in the country in the pentathlon. Both have qualified for the conference championships, holding the top two spots in the Big Sky.
Casey Teska competed at the top of the conference last season and is looking to be at the top by the end of the 2016 schedule. Teska's clearance of 12-09.5 in the pole vault is three inches higher than another other BSC competitor, but is short of her best mark.
The competition for the men's 60m dash is going to a batter this season as ten sprinters have already qualified. Mitchell Horning led the pack in the MSU open, qualifying with a time of 6.97. Horning also hit the mark for the 200, crossing the finish line in 21.94.
Kevin Close and Alexander Lewis continue to jump with the best in the conference, jumping distances of 46-01.25 in the triple jump (Close) and 22-09.00 in the long jump (Lewis).
Montana State will host the 2016 Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on February 25 through February 27 in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
