Bobcats will Host 35th Annual MSU Cross Country Invite on Saturday

The 36th Annual Montana State University/Bozeman Running Company Invitational will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, making it one of the oldest cross country races west of the Mississippi.
The men's five-mile race will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the women's three-mile at 9:45 a.m. at Bridger Creek Golf Course.
All five Division I teams competing on the women's side are ranked in the top 12 of the Mountain Region, with Montana State sitting at the highest spot of five. Utah comes into the meet ranked eighth, while Idaho State, Montana and Utah State took the 10th, 11th and 12th place spots.
Utah State and Montana State's men rank among the top 12 in the Mountain Region, with USU sitting at 11 and MSU at 12. Jake Turner will look to lead the 'Cats after advancing to the NCAA Championships last fall. Diego Leon, a junior-transfer from Hartnell College and California Community College Athletics Association Athlete of the Year, hopes to make an immediate impact on the program.
"This first meet is always exciting because it is an opportunity for the athletes to demonstrate the hard work they put in over the summer," head cross country coach Lyle Weese said. "We have a handful of strong returns on both sides, but Louisa Serpe, Kaylee Schmitz, and Ethan Wilhelm are among others that may surprise some people."
In the non-Division I race, MSU-Billings, UM-Western, MSU-Northern, Carroll College, Rocky Mountain will look to fight for the MSU Invite title.
