The Montana State women's basketball squad embarked on a six-day foreign tour of the Bahamas on Saturday, May 9. Teams are allowed international travel every four years. Check back daily for blogs and pictures from the players, and their adventures. In addition to team-building, the Bobcats will play a pair of games.
Bobcat Women Stop Johnson Lady Truckers in Bahamas
5/12/15 - The Montana State women's basketball team concluded its play on its six-day trip to the Bahamas with an 85-35 thumping of the Johnson Lady Truckers, Tuesday night in Sir Kendal Isaacs Gym. The Lady Truckers were the New Providence Women's Basketball Association champions this season. Tuesday's contest was part of the Bahamas Basketball Federation's 2015 Summer of Thunder exhibition season. Peyton Ferris and Delany Junkermier apply defensive pressure, Tuesday night.
MSU had four players in double-figures led by transfer Riley Nordgaard, who deposited a game-high 18 points, connecting on seven-of-nine from the field. Then Canby, Minnesota product also pulled down eight rebounds.
Also in double-digits were Michelle Seitz 11, and Delany Junkermier and Jasmine Hommes with ten points. Seitz, a junior guard from Nezperce, Idaho, had her second straight game with three 3-pointers.
The Bobcats took a commanding 42-14 cushion into intermission and finished the game shooting 47 percent from the floor and owning a 51-24 advantage under the glass.
Junkermier paced MSU under the boards with ten rebounds. Montana State also received a boost from freshman redshirt Haley Blodgett, who chipped in nine points and seven rebounds. Freshman guard Hannah Caudill added five assists.
Montana State will return from its trip on Thursday night.

5/12/15 - Day 3 in the Bahamas was a blast! After getting up for breakfast, a group of us grabbed some inner tubes and headed for Aqua Venture, the waterpark in Atlantis. There are so many different slides and attractions to experience, from the Rapid River to the Leap of Faith, a water slide that goes through a tank full of sharks!
After we had had enough adventure for the day, we grabbed some lunch and then headed out to relax on the beach. The ocean is so clear out here...you can see everything on the bottom! This is definitely one of the prettiest places I've ever been.
Playing in two games over the past few days has also been great! It's great to finally be out there playing with my teammates after spending a year redshirting! I already feel so much stronger, quicker, and more confident out on the court. I'm grateful we had this opportunity to come down here and play so I was able to get some games in before season in November.
The people down here in the Bahamas are some of the friendliest people I have ever met! All the lifeguards and hotel staff always have smiles on their faces and are easy to strike up a good conversation with! They also like to have fun, such as squirting water on us from the lifeguard stands to dancing and singing while they prepare food at the lunch huts.
Even during ours games, the girls and their families have been interested learning more about us and what it is like where were from...one of the girls we played against last night came back again to watch us tonight...she even came up and gave some of us hugs! I can't wait to visit the orphanage and spend some more time on the resort and beach tomorrow.
