Day 1: McCutchen Leads the Way at BSC Championships

HEPTATHLON RESULTS | DECATHLON RESULTS
Montana State Track and Field multi athletes kicked off the Big Sky Conference Championships to in Cheney, WA. Carley McCutchen, Danielle Muri and Jessica Chrisp all sit in the top five out of 18 total competitors. McCutchen is leading all athletes with 3,038 points, while Muri is in second with 2,965 points and Chrisp in fifth with 2,798.
In all but one event, all three MSU athletes finished in the top five, with three first place finishes. McCutchen came out to an early lead, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14.95 seconds. Chrisp finished third with a time of 15.35 and Muri crossing the finish line in 15.58 (5th).
Sacramento State's Kassandra Corrigan led all competitors in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-07. McCutchen placed third with a mark of 5-04.5, with Muri and Chrisp each earning heights of 5-03.25.
Muri found her way to the top in the shot put, throwing a distance of 38-11.75. The closest mark to Muri's came from Idaho State's Shayla Neibauer (35-01). McCutchen placed fifth, marking 33-08.75 feet and Chrisp finished 14th (28-02.25).
To finish off the day, the 'Cats went one-two-three in the 200, with McCutchen leading the way. McCutchen finished in 25.30C, while Chrisp came in second in 25.77 and Muri finished third in 25.99.
Mason Storm finished fourth overall in the decathlon after five events with a score of 3,336. Storm's best finish came in the long jump, finishing second with a mark of 6.88 meters. Storm placed fourth in the 400 with a time of 51.53 and fifth in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-10.5. In the other two events, Storm finished sixth, running the 100 in 11.75 and throwing the shot put 32-09.75.
The heptathlon will continue tomorrow beginning at 12:15 p.m. MT and the decathlon will resume at 11 a.m. MT.
