5/11/15 - Greetings from Nassua, Bahamas!
Today was not only another beautiful day here in paradise; it was also the best kind of day- GAME DAY.
Following a nutritious breakfast of all the doughnuts and pancakes one could eat, the Cats and I headed to the beach for a little tan time. After only a few hours of water slides, shopping, and beachin', a midday downpour washed us all in different directions. Without the golden sun, we needed to get creative.
The rest of my afternoon I spent with Kalli (Durham) and Lex (Dawkins) exploring the multiple aquariums that the beautiful Atlantis has to offer. Most of these allow for some up close and personal encounters with a wide variety of marine life including sea turtles, stingrays, starfish, and the team (not so) favorite- SHARKS. After a quick shower to remove the seemingly endless sand from my body, it was onto the shuttle and off to the gym.
Many of you may not know of me as a Bobcat women's basketball player, as I sat out of the 2014-2015 season due to NCAA transfer regulations. Following two seasons and a Division II Final Four appearance with Augustana College, taking a year on the sidelines was no easy feat. All things considered, I awoke this morning with the biggest smile on my face not only realizing where I was, but more importantly what I was about to do this evening... And let me tell you it was well worth the wait!
Entering the Kendal G.I. Isaacs National Gymnasium, my eyes took in the local surroundings and its contrasting features of a traditional Big Sky venue. To put things into perspective, I think I started sweating simply lacing up my sneakers. Soon enough, it was tip-off time and I was finally back in a jersey and a Bobcat jersey at that. Although the All-Star team was very tall and athletic, it was no match for our hustle and rebounding performances and the Cats took home their first international victory!
What a day, what a beautiful day.
