Montana State Women’s Basketball Program Inks Two for 2015-16 Campaign

Shaide and Hatchard join early signee Annika Lai, a 6-1 guard from Boulder, Colorado in the 2015-16 recruiting class.
Madisyn Shaide, a 5-7 guard from Missoula, and Rebekah Hatchard, a 5-8 guard from Adelaide, South Australia, have inked to play for the Montana State women's basketball program next season, announced MSU Head Coach Tricia Binford on Wednesday afternoon.
Shaide is no secret to Treasure State hoop enthusiasts after wrapping up her senior season at Big Sky High School. The first-team all-state selection and Great Falls Tribune Super State selection led Montana Class AA in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game. In addition, Shaide averaged 3.9 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 2.9 assists per game as the Eagles posted a 14-9 overall mark.
"Madisyn is a great fit for our program and will excel in our style of play," Binford said. "She is a great scorer, a tough kid and is gifted off the bounce. Madisyn has a huge upside and we're excited that she is a Bobcat."
A two-time Western AA All-Conference selection, Shaide led the league with 88 free throws on the season, hitting on 72.7 percent of her attempts at the line. She was recently named to the Montana-Wyoming All-Star game. Off the court, she is a three-time all-state academic honoree.
Shaide is the daughter of Monte and Stacy Shaide.
Hatchard recently finished her second season at Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas. In March, Hatchard helped her squad to a 28-6 overall mark and a Sweet 16 appearance at the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament. In her two seasons at Seward, she guided the Saints to a 54-12 overall record and a 23-7 conference ledger.
"We were looking for an experienced guard, and Rebekah fills that need," Binford said. "She comes from an outstanding program and knows what it takes to win. Rebekah handles the ball well, has great court vision and can hit the three-pointer. The area we're most excited about is her ability to defend. She is very solid on both ends of the floor."
This season, Hatchard averaged 10.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. In addition, she connected on 57 three-pointers, and finished her career with 75 makes from beyond the arc. Hatchard scored in double-figures on 19 occasions, including a career-high 22 points against Barton CC.
Prior to Seward, Hatchard prepped at Windsor Gardens Vocational College in Adelaide. She played club ball for the North Adelaide Rockets and averaged 13 points and five rebounds in 2012-13, and was a South Australia All-State pick and MVP.
