Hommes Named Second-Team; Ferris Garners Top Reserve Award

For the second consecutive season Montana State forward Jasmine Hommes was been named to the All-Big Sky Conference Second-Team as voted by the league coaches. In addition, sophomore Peyton Ferris was one of three Big Sky players to garner Top Reserve accolades.
Hommes finished the 2014-15 regular-season as MSU's top scorer and was third in the Big Sky Conference averaging 16.7 points per game. In addition, the Lynden, Washington product pulled down 4.9 rebounds per contest and was tops on the squad with 28 blocked shots.
The 6-1 junior forward had her best outing of the season last Saturday against Montana, the Big Sky's top defensive team. Hommes matched a career-high 25 points, while pulling down a career-best 13 rebounds in MSU's win over the Lady Griz.
"Jasmine was an extremely consistent scorer for us this season," MSU Head Coach Tricia Binford said. "She's one of the most versatile post players in the conference and can score from the perimeter and on the block. She is the first one the opponents look at when doing their scout and game planning. We have relied heavily on her this season and she has done everything we've asked of her."
Ferris, a native of Twin Bridges, shared Top Reserve honors with Sacramento State's Gretchen Harrigan and Idaho State's Megan Hochstein.
This season, Ferris played in 24 games for the Bobcats and averaged 9.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while adding 28 assists and 14 steals. In addition, Ferris shot 44.4 percent from the field coming off the bench.
"Peyton was an integral player for our team," Binford said. "She set the tone for us with her physicality and ability to rebound. Offensively, Peyton was just the spark we needed coming off the bench."
The two Bobcats were the only Montana State players acknowledged by the league coaches.

Montana State will open its postseason slate when it meets Sacramento State in the opening-round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament, Wednesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. at Dahlberg Arena in Missoula, Montana.
