“You have to give Eastern credit,” MSU Head Coach Tricia Binford said. “Eastern Washington didn’t allow us to get into anything offensively. We struggled against their pressure. They came to play and we didn’t respond the right way.”
Despite owning a one-point advantage at halftime, the Montana State women's basketball team was out-scored 45-30 in the second half as Eastern Washington posted a 72-58 win over the Bobcats, Saturday afternoon at Reese Court.
Montana State (10-12, 4-7) rallied from a six-point deficit midway through the opening period with an 11-2 run to take a 28-25 lead at the 1:46 mark on a free throw by Peyton Ferris. Eastern Washington (13-8, 6-4) answered with a bucket in the final seconds and MSU led 28-27 at intermission.
EWU opened the final stanza on a 16-4 run and built a 43-32 cushion following a Lexie Nelson three-pointer with 15:19 left. The Bobcats chipped the lead down to eight points on two occasions down the stretch but would get no closer.
