One player who's contributed in each victory, and especially in an 86-57 win over Portland Friday, was Bobcats forward Jasmine Hommes. For her performance against the Pilots, Hommes is this week's Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The 2015-16 season has now been underway for a couple weeks in the Big Sky Conference, and a few teams have made strong statements to start the season .
The Montana State Bobcats are 3-0 to open the season, with three wins over teams from the WAC, Mountain West and the West Coast Conference.
One player who's contributed in each victory, and especially in an 86-57 win over Portland Friday, was Bobcats forward Jasmine Hommes. For her performance against the Pilots, Hommes is this week's Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Hommes scored 21 points, hauled down four rebounds and chipped in three assists as the Bobcats won their third consecutive game to start the season. The Lynden, Washington product connected on 10-of-13 (77%) from the field, including a three-pointer as MSU downed Portland 86-57 to remain undefeated on the season.
Hommes is MSU's leading scorer, averaging 15.7 points, while shooting 51 percent from the field.
The Bobcats are in action again tonight, as they host San Diego.
Others nominated included: Kayleigh Valley, Montana; Delaney Hodgins, Eastern Washington; Makailah Dyer, North Dakota; Adella Randle-El, Sacramento State; Kailie Quin, Weber State; Brittani Lusain, Northern Arizona; Micheala Kay, Portland State; and Anna Lee Policicchio, Idaho State.
The entire season is a "Road-To-Reno," where the Big Sky Basketball Championships will take place from March 7-12, at the Reno Events Center. Fans are encouraged to visit www.roadtoreno.com for information on tickets and hotel accommodations.
