Bobcat Women’s Basketball Scrimmage Set for Friday

The Montana State women’s basketball squad will hold its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage, Friday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m., in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
The Montana State women's basketball squad will hold its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage, Friday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m., in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
The scrimmage will help the Bobcats adapt to the new rules changes in the women's game, most notably moving from two 20–minutes halves to four 10-minute quarters.
"The scrimmage will give us an opportunity to adjust to the new rule changes," said 11th year head coach Tricia Binford. "And, will help us get familiar with different situations. It will also be nice to get into uniform and be in front of a crowd. We need to get our cardio up to game speed."
Binford returns eight letterwinners from last season, including three starters that guided the Bobcats to a 15-15 overall mark and a 9-9 Big Sky Conference ledger. Returning starters include second-team All-Big Sky performer Jasmine Hommes, Alexa Dawkins and Lindsay Stockton. Junior Peyton Ferris, who garnered Big Sky Conference Top Reserve accolades last winter, also returns to MSU's front line.
"Our three post players – Hommes, Dawkins and Ferris – have all had an excellent fall," Binford said. "I think we have one of the strongest front lines in the Big Sky. They have great chemistry and really feed off each other."
In the backcourt, Binford will look to Stockton to anchor the guard play. In addition, look for Hannah Caudill, Delany Junkermier, Margreet Barhoum, Michelle Seitz and transfer Riley Nordgaard to make strong contributions.
"We have good experience and depth at the guard spot," Binford said. "They have worked hard in the offseason and they have all improved their game."
Montana State will host Montana Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 4 in exhibition action. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
