Bobcat Women Picked Fourth by Media; Fifth in Big Sky Coaches Preseason Poll

Montana State head coach Tricia Binford enters her eleventh season at the helm of the Bobcat women’s basketball program and she feels the same way about the preseason polls as she has the previous ten years.

"Polls are everyone's best guess based on last year's results, and what teams have returning," Binford said. "But, they don't tell you the intangibles that players can bring to a team, especially newcomers. Each year brings surprises, and I'm sure this season won't be any different."
The Bobcats, who went 15-15 overall and 9-9 in Big Sky Conference play last season, return nine players, including three starters. Highlighting the 2015-16 roster will be senior post player Jasmine Hommes, who garnered Second-Team All-Big Sky Conference honors last winter, averaging 16.9 points and 5.1 rebounds, per game. Other starters include Alexa Dawkins and Lindsay Stockton. Big Sky Conference Top Reserve Peyton Ferris also returns to the MSU line-up.
Montana, North Dakota and Sacramento State earned the top three spots, respectively in both polls. In the coach's poll, Northern Colorado and Montana State rounded-out the top five, with the Bobcats earning a first-place nod from one Big Sky coach. The media poll completed its top five with MSU and Idaho State.
The Bobcats will begin practice on Monday, Oct. 5.
