Montana State senior standout Ashley Brumwell was named the Bobcat women's basketball most valuable player, Thursday night at the program's annual awards banquet.
The Hamilton product was a second-team All-Big Sky Conference performer, after averaging 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds this winter. In addition, Brumwell led the squad in blocked shots and was second in three-point makes. She finished her career at MSU second in blocked shots (130); third in games played (122); 11th in rebounding (665); and 15th in scoring (1,189).
Bobcat junior point-guard Ausha Cole reeled in three honors. The native of Mesa, Ariz., garnered the defensive player of the year; the strength and conditioning award; and The Ginny Hunt Bobcat Pride award.
Cole played and started in all 30 games for MSU and averaged 6.0 points, 4.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds. In addition, her +1.88 assist/turnover ratio ranked 60th in the country. Cole's 290 career assists ranks ninth all-time at MSU.
Other honor recipients included Jackie Elliott, community service award; Kayla DeWit, most improved player; Dani Phillips, Rob Myers Sixth Man award; and Rob Myers, The Ellen Kreighbaum award.

It was also announced at the banquet that assistant coach Salvo Coppa will be leaving the Bobcat women's basketball program in two weeks to join his wife, Adia Barnes, who just completed her third season as an assistant at the University of Washington.
