Long-time coach leaves post after eight seasons
Brad Huse resigned as Montana State University's head men's basketball coach on Tuesday, MSU Director of Athletics Peter Fields said.
Huse's decision came during a Tuesday morning meeting between the two. Huse just concluded his eighth season as the school's head coach with a 14-17 record in 2013-14 and a 107-133 overall mark. The Bobcats were 64-72 in Big Sky play under Huse.
"Brad offered his resignation during a meeting this morning, and I have accepted it," Fields said. "I want to thank him for his effort, dedication and integrity. I wish Brad and his family nothing but the best."
Huse's win total is sixth in school history, and his eight seasons at the helm is the third-longest tenure in program annals. Prior to arriving at MSU Huse was an assistant at Montana and Montana State and head coach at Jamestown (N.D.) College.
Fields indicated that the search for MSU's 19th full-time head coach begins immediately, and that while he hopes to expedite the process, "hiring the right person is the most important factor." Fields said Dr. George Haynes, MSU's Faculty Athletic Representative, will chair the search committee.
