Brumwell, Hommes Earn All-Big Sky Accolades

Senior Ashley Brumwell and sophomore Jasmine Hommes were honored with Big Sky Conference kudos by the league's coaches on Monday.
Montana State senior Ashley Brumwell garnered second-team All-Big Sky Conference honors, while teammate sophomore Jasmine Hommes earned honorable-mention accolades, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Brumwell, who has been a mainstay with the Bobcats since her first season in 2009-10, averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this winter, leading MSU to a sixth place regular-season finish. The product of Hamilton is second on MSU's all-time blocks list and is ranked in the top 15 in scoring and rebounding.
"Ashley is one of the most versatile players in the conference," MSU head coach Tricia Binford said. "She has really impacted our team's success this season not only in her play but her leadership. "
Hommes, a 6-1 forward from Lynden, Wash., had a break-out season for the Bobcats as the team's leading scorer, averaging 13.8 points per game, while shooting a team-best 50 percent from the field. In addition, she averaged 4.3 rebounds and shot 76 percent from the free throw line.
"I'm excited that Jasmine was recognized by the league coaches," Binford said. "With the graduation of Rachel Semansky, she was stepping into some big shoes. Jasmine immediately brought an inside presence and was a consistent performer. She has really developed into an offensive threat that can score on the block and on the perimeter."
The Bobcats will face Montana on Thursday in the opening-round of the Big Sky Conference tournament hosted by the University of North Dakota.
