Montana State is 3-4 overall after going 1-2 on its southern California road trip over Thanksgiving.
HOME COOKIN':
After spending a week and playing three games in southern California over the Thanksgiving break, the Montana State women's basketball team will play its next three contests inside the warm and friendly confines of Worthington Arena, including a pair of non-conference games this week. The 'Cats will host Great Falls on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., and will conclude play against Wyoming, Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. Saturday's game is the first contest in a double-header with the Montana State men's squad, which will host Utah Valley at 7:35 p.m.
THIS WEEK'S VITALS:
Montana State is 3-4 overall after going 1-2 on its southern California road trip over Thanksgiving. Great Falls is a perfect 10-0 on the season after knocking off Valley City State 70-60 in the Electric City on Saturday night. Wyoming is 3-2 on the season after dropping an 84-63 decision to Iowa State, before rebounding with a 67-53 win over Howard at the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic.
REWINDING THE WEEK THAT WAS:
San Diego used a commanding 60-39 edge in rebounding and turned 32 offensive boards and 22 Montana State turnovers into 44 points to cruise to a 79-64 win over the Bobcats, last Tuesday. Jasmine Hommes paced the Bobcats with a game-high 21 points, while pulling down five rebounds and adding two blocks. Alexa Dawkins finished with nine points, while Lindsay Stockton and Delany Junkermier each added eight. Jackie Elliott guided the Bobcats with a team-best ten rebounds, while Dawkins added eight. For the game, Montana State shot a respectable 43 percent from the field, including 50 percent in the second period. Cal State Northridge used a strong second half to overcome a four-point halftime deficit to hand Montana State a 78-66 setback in the opening round of the CSUN Thanksgiving Tournament on Friday. Hommes finished with a team-high 18 points, while Dawkins added 12 and Kalli Durham 11. Stockton dished out a game-high seven assists. For the game, the Bobcats shot 45 percent. MSU shot 55 percent in the opening period and 37 percent in the second half. Montana State rallied from a seven-point second half deficit to post an 80-74 win over IUPUI in the consolation game of the CSUN Classic. Hommes and Hannah Caudill came off the bench to score 23 and 19 points, respectively. Also in double-figures was Stockton with 12 points.
THE SCOUTING REPORT:
Great Falls is 10-0 heading into Thursday's game at Montana State. Last weekend, the Argos defeated Valley City State behind 22 points via Erin Legel, a 5-5 junior guard from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. On the season, Legel is averaging 21.3 points per game and had connected on 29 3-pointers. The Argos have three other players averaging in double-digits, including Lindsey Abramson (15.2), Darah Huertas-Vining (14.0) and Stephanie McDonagh (13.1). Abramson leads UGF under the glass, averaging 11.0 rebounds per outing. The Argos are coaches by Bill Himmelberg, who is in his fifth season in the Electric City. Wyoming is 3-2 overall, after splitting a pair of games at the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic. The Cowgirls will play at Montana on Thursday night, before making the trek down I-90 to face the Bobcats on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Worthington Arena. UW has been paced this season by Marquelle Dent and Kayla Woodward. Dent, a 5-7 junior guard, is averaging a team-best 18.2 points and 6.0 assists per game, while Woodward, a 5-11 senior forward, is chipping in 15.2 points, while pulling down a team-high 8.6 rebounds per contest. Wyoming is coached by Joe Legerski, who is in his 12th season in the Gem City of the Plains.

Stockton is first on the team and second in the Big Sky averaging 4.9 assists per game. Her career-high eight assists are the second best recorded in the Big Sky this season. She has also posted seven straight games with a positive assist/turnover ratio.
KICKIN' IT:
Senior Jackie Elliott has started all seven games for the Bobcats this season and is averaging 6.7 points and a team-best 6.4 rebounds per game. The Billings Central graduate, Elliott had a pair of double-digit rebounding games last week, posting 11 boards against Cal State Northridge and ten versus San Diego. Not too shabby for the 2011 Montana High School Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year. Currently serving as President of MSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Elliott is heavily involved in community service and can be seen on TV in numerous Public Service Announcements. She is a mechanical engineering major.
BLEEDING BLUE AND GOLD:
Senior and Miles City product Kalli Durham has strong family ties to Montana State. Durham's grandfather Lin (who recently passed away), Uncle Mick and cousin Casey all played for the Bobcat men's team. The daughter of former UM-Western Athletic Director and men's basketball coach Mark Durham, she has recorded 43 career double-figure scoring games in four seasons. Durham's 118 career 3-pointers are 6th best all-time at MSU.
FATHER'S DAY:
Lindsay Stockton is the daughter of legendary NBA Hall of Famer and former Utah Jazz standout John Stockton, while Alexa Dawkins' father Dale played football on the University of Miami's 1987 National Championship team. Dawkins later went on to play wide receiver for the New York Jets from 1990-93.

Jasmine Hommes matched a career-high with 24 points at Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 16. The Lynden Christian product has recorded four 20+ scoring games in seven outing this season. She leads the Bobcats in scoring, averaging 18.9 per game, which is good for second in the league behind Idaho's Stacey Barr at 19.2 ppg. The 2013-14 Second-Team All-Big Sky honoree started all 30 games, last year.. Hommes also has strong ties to the MSU women's basketball. She is the niece of former MSU and Big Sky MVP Blythe Hommes and former MSU and All-Big Sky performer Brooke Svendsen. Hommes' aunts made a combined 130 starts for MSU.
BABY TALK:
After taking off the 2012-13 season on maternity leave, Ausha Cole returned to the Bobcat line-up last winter and averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 assists per game- starting and playing in all 30 contests. Last weekend, the Mesa, Arizona native averaged 15.0 minutes per game and totaled three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Cole's biggest fan and daughter, Kadence, celebrated her 2nd birthday on Nov. 19.
THE LILAC CITY:
The Bobcats have three players representing Spokane, Washington - The Lilac City. Lindsay Stockton, Hannah Caudill and Delany Junkermier combined for 74 points, 26 rebounds, 21 assists, and eight 3-pointers last week. Junkermier, a graduate of Mead High School, has paced Montana State from beyond the 3-point arc connecting on a team-best nine-of-21 attempts, while Caudill is averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 rebounds in her first seven games.

Annika Lai, a 6-1 guard from Boulder, Colorado signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Montana State women's basketball program next season. Lai, who preps at Fairview High School, averaged 15 points, six rebounds, two blocks and two steals per game as a junior, guiding her squad to the second-round of the Colorado 5A state tournament. For efforts, she garnered First-Team All-Conference accolades. At Fairview, Lai is a four-year letterwinner and a two-time team captain. In addition, she also earned First-Team All-State Academic kudos. Lai played summer ball with BC Denver and earned US Junior National Battle of the Border All-Star honors, as well as High Five (CA) Classic All-Tournament mention. Lai comes from a strong basketball pedigree as mother, the former Amy Mathern, was a member of Colorado's 1993 Elite Eight team that knocked-off defending national champion Stanford at the NCAA West Regionals in Missoula. Mathern started 112 games for the Buffaloes.
