
Bobcat Spikers Fall in Four to Big Sky’s Top Team

Montana State received 25 kills and 19 digs from its freshmen duo of Kennadie Clute and Loni Kreun, but it wasn’t enough as Big Sky Conference preseason favorite Portland State handed the Bobcats a 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 setback, Saturday night in the Stott Center.

Montana State received 25 kills and 19 digs from its freshmen duo of Kennadie Clute and Loni Kreun, but it wasn't enough as Big Sky Conference preseason favorite Portland State handed the Bobcats a 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 setback, Saturday night in the Stott Center.
"We played quite well against one of the best teams in the conference," said MSU head coach Kyle Weindel. "We had a total team effort and got points from multiple positions. It was nice to see the team respond to the pressure Portland State put on us."
Clute, a native of Spokane, Wash., posted her 15th straight double-figure kill match with a team-best 14 kills, while Kreun added 11 winners. In addition, Clute recorded a double-double adding ten digs. She also posted a career-high six service aces.
Sophomore Eli Svisco also contributed to the Montana State (2-13, 0-4) effort with seven kills and a .333 attack mark, while Anna Sykora dished out 41 assists. Defensively, the Bobcats were led by Kasey Schlatter and Nicole Baker with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.
Portland State (7-7, 4-0) was led by Aubrey Mitchell with 11 kills.
MSU will travel to Idaho State on Friday night.
