Bobcat Women Host Carroll Friday Night

The Montana State women’s basketball team will look to end a two-game losing streak when it hosts Carroll College in its final non-conference contest of the season, Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., in Worthington Arena. The game will count for the Bobcats, while serving as an exhibition outing for the Saints.

* The Montana State women's basketball team will look to end a two-game losing streak when it hosts Carroll College in its final non-conference contest of the season, Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., in Worthington Arena. The game will count for the Bobcats, while serving as an exhibition outing for the Saints.
* The Bobcats dropped a pair of games in The Emerald City last weekend, losing to Seattle 74-63 and Washington 83-60. Against the Redhawks, MSU was paced by senior Ashley Brumwell, who posted her first double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds, while sophomore Jasmine Hommes continued her stellar non-conference play with a team-best 16 points, on six-of-12 from the field, one triple, and a three-of-three effort from the free throw line. Coming off the bench, Lindsay Stockton notched nine points, while Alexa Dawkins added seen points. In its loss to Pac-12 foe Washington, Montana State was guided by Jackie Elliott, recorded her first double-double game of the winter with 12 points and ten rebounds. Brumwell was the only other Bobcat in double-digits with 13 points. Dawkins came off the bench to pull down seven boards.
* One area head coach Tricia Binford would like to clean up is turnovers. In its last three games, MSU has averaged 19.7 miscues per contest.
A FULL PLATE:
Senior Ashley Brumwell has a lot on her plate. In addition to her playing gig, the 5th-year senior is also student-teaching at Bozeman High in the math department. Brumwell (formerly Albert) notched her first double-double of the season with 12 points and ten rebounds against Seattle. She followed that performance with 13 points, along with four rebounds and three steals at Washington. Brumwell is fourth on MSU's all-time career blocked shot chart with 102 swats.
SHE'S A KICK:
The effervescent Jackie Elliott continued her stellar pre-Big Sky play recording her first double-double of the season against Pac-12 foe Washington. The Billings Central grad tallied 12 points and ten rebounds against the Huskies. Elliott, who was the 2010-11 Montana Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year and a 16-time All-State Academic pick as a prepster, is majoring in Bio-Engineering.
FROM THE TOWN THAT MADE VIOLET BEAUREGARDE FAMOUS:
Miles City, Montana product Kalli Durham, who has strong family ties to Montana State (grandfather Lin, Uncle Mick and cousin Casey all played for the Bobcat men's basketball program) had eight points against Washington and four steals at Seattle. The daughter of a coach (father Mark is the former head men's basketball coach and athletic director at Montana-Western) has been in double-digits in three games. Durham has recorded 27 career double-figure scoring games.
ALL IN THE FAMILY:
Jasmine Hommes has started all eight games for MSU this season and is averaging 11.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. She is fourth in the Big Sky Conference shooting 51 percent from the field. Hommes also has strong ties to the MSU women's basketball program as the niece of former Bobcat and Big Sky MVP Blythe Hommes-Hintz and former MSU and Big Sky All-Conference performer Brooke Hommes-Svendsen. Hommes' aunts made a combined 130 starts for the Bobcats- Blythe Hommes-Hintz 78 - Brooke Hommes-Svendsen 52.
BABY TALK:
After taking last year off on maternity leave, junior point-guard Ausha Cole has returned to the Bobcat starting line-up. Cole totaled 10 points (5.0 ppg) and went three-of-six from the field at Seattle and Washington. The native of Mesa, Ariz., also added five assists and three steals on the weekend. On a side note, her biggest fan, Kadence, celebrated her first birthday on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013.
STOCK AND DAWK:
Lindsay Stockton came off the bench to post nine points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals at Seattle. She followed that performance with four assists and two boards at Washington. On the season, Stockton is averaging 5.9 points and 3.0 assists per game. Alexa Dawkins also came off the pine for a nice outing against Seattle with seven points and four rebounds. She also hauled down seven rebounds against UW. The duo hail from strong athletic lineages. Lindsay is the daughter of NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton, while Dawkins' father Dale played football on the University of Miami's 1987 National Championship team. Dawkins later went on to play wide receiver for the New York Jets from 1990-93.
THE THUNDER FROM DOWN UNDER:
Senior forward Emily Allen from Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia came off the bench for 16 minutes of action against Seattle and finished with four points, three assists, two steals and two rebounds. She followed that performance the next afternoon with two points and four boards at the University of Washington.
FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS:
Redshirt freshman Margreet Barhoum, who came off the bench against Seattle and played five minutes. Against Washington, Barhoum notched six points and five rebounds in 24 minutes of action.
DeNOTE ON DeWIT:
Montana State sophomore forward Kayla DeWit came off the bench and saw limited minutes against Seattle, before playing eight minutes at Pac-12 foe Washington. Against the Huskies, DeWit posted five points, including going 3-4 at the line.
BUELLER, BUELLER, BUELLER:
Sophomore Peyton Ferris, who averaged 2.4 points and 2.0 rebounds last winter, is sidelined with a leg injury. She is listed as day-to-day.
