Saturday's historic contest pits two top-five teams
In case there wasn't enough on the line in a contemporary sense on Roos Field's red turf in Cheney Saturday, the matchup pitting No. 3/4 Eastern Washington and No. 4/5 Montana State also features a touch of history as the first between top five-ranked Big Sky schools in 19 years. Sensational sophomore quarterback Vernon Adams, the FCS' fourth-leading passer, leads a sizzling Eagles attack that scores 39.3 points a game against a Bobcat team relying on QB DeNarius McGhee (36 wins as MSU's starting signal caller) and running back Cody Kirk, who has 16 TDs this year. Since EWU hired Beau Baldwin in 2008, the Eagles (35 wins) and Montana State (36) are the winningest programs in the Big Sky. Saturday's game, which kicks off at 12 noon PT/1 pm MT, is featured on ROOT SPORTS as its Big Sky Conference Game of the Week.
