The Montana State volleyball team will begin its stretch drive hosting six of its final eight matches of the season in the friendly confines of Shroyer Gym. The Bobcats will face Portland State on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by Eastern Washington on Saturday, also at 7 p.m.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR:
Montana State outside hitter Kennadie Clute is not only establishing herself as one of the top freshman in the Big Sky this fall, but she is also one of the best in the nation. The Bobcat rookie ranks first in the country for freshmen, averaging 4.30 kills per set, which ranks 23rd overall at the NCAA Division I level. The Spokane native is first in the nation for freshmen in points per game, as well, at 4.80 per set, which is 25th overall.
'CAT CHAT:
Montana State will look to snap its four-match losing streak this weekend against Portland State and Eastern Washington. After opening October with three straight wins, the Bobcats have dropped four matches- all on the road. MSU has just the Northern Arizona/Southern Utah road trip remaining...freshman setter Anna Sykora is fourth in the league averaging 10.41 assists per set. The mark is the seventh best average for a freshman setter at the NCAA Division I level this season...senior libero Nicole Baker leads the Big Sky Conference averaging .38 services aces per game. The mark is currently the 51st best average in the country...freshman outside hitter Kennadie Clute has posted double-digit kills in all 23 Montana State matches this fall.
SCOUTING THE VIKINGS/EAGLES:
Portland State will enter Friday's match with a 12-10 overall mark and a 9-3 Big Sky ledger. The showdown with the Vikings will once against pit sister vs. sister as Bobcat junior Kasey Schlatter goes up against older sister Garyn, who is a senior setter for PSU. Last weekend, the Vikings lost a 3-1 decision at Sacramento State, before defeating Eastern Washington 3-1 in Cheney on Monday night. EWU is 7-16 overall and 4-8 in Big Sky play. The Eagles are led by Allie Schumacher, who averages 2.87 kills per set.
FAB FROSH, PART I:
Kennadie Clute, a 6-1 outside hitter from Spokane, continues to be Montana State's top offensive threat, racking up a Big Sky best 418 points in the first 23 matches. In addition, Clute has been in double-figure kills in all 23 matches. She is ranked first in the league averaging 4.30 kills per set and her 31 kills against Northern Arizona is the top mark in the Big Sky, as well.
GOOD GODFREY:
Sophomore Natalee Godfrey has put together a solid season for the Bobcats to date hitting a team-best .289 from the field, while averaging 1.94 kills and .83 blocks per set. Last weekend, she averaged 1.40 kills and .80 blocks/set.
FAB FROSH, PART II:
Freshman Anna Sykora continued her hot-hand. The 5-11 setter from Rapid City, SD, dished out 98 assists last weekend and is averaging 9.80 assists per set in Big Sky action, which ranks fourth overall in the Big Sky listings.
THE BUTCHER, THE BAKER, THE DIG-MAKER:
Senior libero Nicole Baker is moving up the all-time MSU digs chart. She is currently third all-time with 1,439 saves. Her current 3.55 dps is eighth best in the league, while her .38 aces give her the top spot in the Big Sky listings.
FAB FROSH, PART III:
Freshman outside hitter Loni Kreun is averaging 2.94 kills per set. Kreun is second on the team with 283.5 points. In addition, she is second on the squad, averaging 2.27 digs per contest and has totaled 28 blocks.
E-LECTRFYING:
After a slow start to the season, sophomore outside hitter Eli Svisco is finding her groove. Svisco pounded down 14 kills last weekend, including eight kills at Montana. In addition, she also logged seven blocks against the Griz.
