Bobcat Women Face Balanced 2012-13 Schedule

Five outings on the road and four games inside the confines of the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse highlight the 2012-13 Montana State women’s basketball non-conference schedule, head coach Tricia Binford announced.

In addition, the Bobcat women will see the Big Sky Conference slate expanded to 20 games, with the addition of North Dakota and Southern Utah.
Following a pair of exhibition games, MSU will open the regular-season with four straight road games. The Bobcats will face Colorado State and Denver in its opening week of action and will conclude playing in the Southern Methodist Hoops for the Cure Classic on Nov. 23. MSU will open the tournament against Clemson, and will play SMU or SIU-Edwardsville the following evening.
The Bobcats will face UM-Western in its home opener on Nov. 29, before playing its final non-conference road game at Utah State on Dec. 1. MSU will then play five consecutive games in Worthington Arena, including non-conference tilts against Tennessee State, Wyoming and MSU-Billings.
Big Sky Conference play will begin prior to the Christmas break when the Bobcats host Sacramento State and Northern Arizona on Dec. 20 and 22.
“With the addition of the two new Big Sky members - North Dakota and Southern Utah - Big Sky Conference action begins before the holiday break,” Binford said. “It's going to be new for everyone and with seven new members to our squad, our ability to pick up things quickly will be critical to our early success.”
The annual 'Cat-Griz showdowns will take place Jan. 19 in Missoula and March 2 in Bozeman.
“I love the variety of our preseason schedule with the challenges of playing on the road, tournament experiences of performing back to back nights, and protecting home court,” Binford said. “This schedule is competitive and unlike previous years, doesn't allow our team to have a mental lapse of coming in as a major underdog. Our schedule is going to be challenging in every fashion and I am excited to see our new squad find its identity.”
