Montana State senior standout Katie Bussey continued to add to her impressive basketball resume’ being named to the 2012 Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s All-America Honorable Mention squad.
Montana State senior standout Katie Bussey continued to add to her impressive basketball resume' being named to the 2012 Division I Women's Basketball Coaches Association's All-America Honorable Mention squad.
Bussey becomes the first Bobcat women's basketball player to earn All America Honorable Mention accolades since Blythe Hommes in 1997.
A unanimous First-Team All-Big Sky Conference selection this season, Bussey averaged 17.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game as the Bobcats posted a 19-11 overall mark. In addition, Bussey became the Big Sky Conference's all-time career leader in three-point field-goals with 254 makes and tied the league mark for most points in a game with 41 in MSU's overtime win at Idaho State on Feb. 2.
“Katie is certainly deserving of this honor,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “She is without a doubt one of the best players in Montana State and Big Sky Conference history over the course of her four-year career. Not only has she excelled as a player, but she is just an outstanding person and ambassador for the Bobcat women's basketball program.”
Bussey, a native of Alamosa, Colo., finished second on MSU's all-time scoring chart with 1,710 points. In addition, she ranks in the top ten of 11 Bobcat career statistical categories.
Off the court, she is a four-time All-Big Sky Conference Academic selection majoring in kiniesology. Bussey is currently pursuing a professional playing career.
