Montana State women’s basketball head coach Tricia Binford has announced the signing of Margreet Barhoum, a 5-8 guard from Edmonds, Wash., to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Bobcats next season.
Montana State women's basketball head coach Tricia Binford has announced the signing of Margreet Barhoum, a 5-8 guard from Edmonds, Wash., to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Bobcats next season.
Barhoum, who will graduate from Meadowdale High School this spring, was a 2012 Washington Associated Press All-State Honorable Mention pick after averaging 21.3 points, 4.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game for the Mavericks.
“Margreet will be a great addition to the program,” Binford said. “She is an outstanding competitor, a fantastic three-point shooter, and has the ability to get to the basket. We really liked her character and she will help bring good energy and intensity to the program.”
A three-time All-Western Conference League performer, Barhoum earned 3A Wesco Player of the Year accolades in 2011 after pouring in 22.5 points per game. As a sophomore, she averaged 16.7 points per outing. Barhoum is Meadowdale's all-time leader with 1,560 career points.
A four-year letterwinner with the Mavericks, Barhoum was the Wesco League scoring champion in 2011 and 2012. A two-time all area first-team selection, she led her squad to an overall mark of 60-37 during her tenure at MHS.
Barhoum, who was coached by Troy Parker at Meadowdale High School, played AAU basketball for the Vancouver-based Columbia Cascades. In addition, she also earned two varsity letters in track and field.
She is the daughter of David and Lisa Barhoum of Edmonds, Wash.
Binford indicated that the Bobcats will look to sign one more student-athlete during the spring signing period.
