Idaho State remained one of the hottest teams in the Big Sky Conference as the Bengals rolled past Montana State 25-14, 25-13, 25-22, Friday night in Reed Gym.
“We lacked the urgency to play at the level of Idaho State and that's to their credit,” said MSU first-year head coach Kyle Weindel. “I think at this point in the season, ISU may be playing the best. We were just unable to respond to the pressure they put on us and they scored from a lot of different areas.”
Montana State (14-10, 8-8) finished the match hitting .032 from the field, while Idaho State (20-5, 14-2) hit at a .283 clip. The Bobcats were paced by Macy Page with nine kills, while Sarah Horton added eight. Freshman Natalie Godfrey led MSU at the net with a team-high five blocks.
“We'll put this behind us and move forward,” Weindel said. “We have gone on the road four times and have split each weekend, and that is what you want. We have put ourselves in good position to make the Big Sky tournament. We'll keep focusing on the things that we can control.”
Montana State will host its final matches at home next week, beginning with Southern Utah on Friday night in Shroyer Gym.
