Bobcat Women's Basketball Team to Hold Blue-Gold Scrimmage
10/9/2012 4:26:00 PM | Women's Basketball
The MSU women's basketball team will hold its annual Blue-Gold scrimmage on Saturday morning, with numerous events for old and young, alike.
The Montana State women's basketball program has announced it will play its annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage, Saturday, Oct. 13 at 10 a.m., in the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. The scrimmage will also feature activities for children, a season ticket raffle and an alumnae celebration.
Fans attending will receive a blue or gold raffle at the door and will be eligible to win season-tickets. Children are invited to stretch with the Bobcats players on court at 9:30 a.m., and be part of the run-out tunnel during introductions. Following the scrimmage, kids can play dribble tag with the MSU players and get posters autographed, as well.
Several members of previous Bobcat teams will be back in Bozeman over the weekend and will be introduced during halftime of the scrimmage, including former Big Sky Conference Most Valuable Players and Bobcat Hall of Famers Tennyson Ballek and Blythe Hommes.
“We're looking at turning our annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage into more of an event,” said MSU head coach Tricia Binford. “Our student-athletes do such an outstanding job working with area kids throughout the year, and this is a nice way to start off the season, while getting to see our team in action for the first time in a game setting.”
Binford welcomes back eight letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's squad that posted a 19-11 overall mark and a 10-6 Big Sky Conference slate. In addition, eight newcomers will play on the Worthington Arena hardwood for the first time.
The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
