Montana State Women’s Basketball Squad Faces Challenging 2011-12 Slate

A date with Sweet Sixteen participant and perennial national power Georgia, along with four other games against schools from powerhouse conferences highlight the Montana State women’s basketball schedule this season.
A date with Sweet Sixteen participant and perennial national power Georgia, along with four other games against schools from powerhouse conferences highlight the Montana State women's basketball schedule this season.
MSU will face Georgia on Dec. 20 as part of the Las Vegas Shootout. The Bulldogs advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last winter where they lost to eventual national champion Texas A&M. The Bobcats will also face Illinois of the Big 10 in Las Vegas, as well.
“I think we have a very challenging and solid schedule,” said MSU seventh-year head coach Tricia Binford. “The schedule will really prepare us for Big Sky Conference play. I'm also excited that we were able to bring likes of Colorado State, Utah State and North Dakota into Worthington Arena for our fans.”
After opening the season with two exhibition games, MSU will begin its regular-season slate with a road swing through Oregon, where it will face Portland and Oregon State.
Following a pair of home games against NAIA opponents, including UM Western in Shroyer Gym on Nov. 17, the Bobcats will travel to the 25th Annual Omni Hotels Classic in Boulder, Colo.
MSU will open play in Colorado against Wisconsin on Nov. 25. The following night, the Bobcats will face either CU or Valparaiso.
Montana State finishes out November hosting Colorado State and will tip-off December hosting Utah State in Worthington Arena. After its tilt with the Aggies, MSU plays at North Dakota on Dec. 4 as part of a home-and-home series.
The Bobcats close out its 2011-12 non-conference slate when it hosts UND on Dec. 22.
Montana State will open Big Sky Conference play at Eastern Washington on Dec. 29. The annual Cat-Griz games are slated for Feb. 4 in Bozeman and Feb. 25 in Missoula.
