Bobcats Announce Difficult 2011-12 Men's Basketball Schedule

Rigorous non-league slate highlights the coming year
Highlighted by a rigorous non-conference road schedule, including visits to two Pac 12 schools and one Mountain West foe, Montana State coach Brad Huse announced the program's 2011-12 schedule on Monday.
“We've bit off another challenging non-conference schedule that should prepare us for league play,” Huse said. “Our league continues to be extremely tough and the best way to prepare for league play is by playing a difficult non-conference schedule.”
The Bobcats open the regular season with a trip to Arizona State on Nov. 11, and also visit new Pac 12 entry Utah, coached by former Montana coach Larry Krystkowiak, with whom Huse coached for two seasons in Missoula. MSU plays 15 of its 28 2011-12 contests away from Worthington Arena.
MSU hosts Seattle, CS Bakersfield and UC Riverside in non-league home games, and visit WAC opponents Idaho and San Jose State. The Bobcats close non-league play with a pre-Christmas trip to Malibu to face Pepperdine and to the Pit in Albuquerque to meet New Mexico before opening Big Sky play with Eastern Washington on Dec. 28 and Portland State on Dec. 30. The Bobcats also compete in the 2012 BracketBuster series in late February, heading onto the road to an opponent to be determined.
“Each and every road game will be a significant challenge and we also have three Division I teams coming here during the non-conference season who will be difficult to play. Finally, we continue to make a strong effort to miss as little class time as possible in the non-conference part of our schedule and we won't miss any classes in December due to travel, which will really benefit our student-athlete's as they wrap up the first semester.”
Montana State opens Big Sky play the weekend after Christmas, hosting explosive Eastern Washington and Portland State. The Bobcats host the annual Cat-Griz rivalry on February 4, traveling to Missoula for the rematch on February 25.
