Anderson Honored for Academic Excellence

Cody Anderson earned one last honor for his work in the classroom
BOZEMAN, Mont. – It's a fitting tribute that perhaps the final honor Cody Anderson earns as a Montana State basketball player is for academic achievement.
A junior center who retired from basketball after the 2010-11 season due to lingering injuries, Anderson earned recognition from the National Association of Basketball Coaches for his work in the classroom when he was named to the NABC Honors Court. Anderson also earned Big Sky All-Academic honors, compiling a 3.53 cumulative grade point average as a Health and Human Development major.
“Cody exemplifies what we look for in Bobcat basketball players,” MSU coach Brad Huse said. “He was dedicated to the game of basketball and to improving, but never lost sight of the fact that our players are here for an education with the ultimate goal of graduating.”
Anderson, a 6-10 junior last season, has compiled a 3.53 cumulative grade point average during his time at MSU. He played in 31 games last season, starting 23, and averaged 4.5 points 3.3 rebounds. The Canyon Country, Calif., native's finest moments as a Bobcat came last winter. He scored 15 points with eight rebounds against Weber State, getting 14 points against Johnson & Wales.
Anderson plans to finish his MSU degree in 2011-12.
