MSU bolsters front line with prep standout
Montana State added athleticism to its front line on Tuesday when forward Ryan Shannon joined the Bobcat men's basketball team.
Shannon averaged 13.1 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.2 blocked shots and 3.1 assists a game as a junior at Marysville High School near Seattle. He earned Washington 4A Player of the Week honors once, along with Second Team All-Wesco honors after the season.
“Ryan is a skilled and tough power forward,” Huse said. “He can shoot the ball from the perimeter and he is also very skilled driving the basketball and scoring around the basket. He plays with high levels of energy and he should grow into a very good player in our program. He is really a no-nonsense type of player who plays with reckless abandon in pursuit of rebounds. He is committed to being a good player, is a gym rat, and will bring another physical presence to our frontline as he is already almost 225 pounds.”
Huse is pleased with the addition of Shannon and guard Marcus Colbert, who inked last week. “We've added two players who are program guys and who can help us as we establish the next core of Bobcat basketball players,” Huse said. “Both of these guys are fun to watch and cheer for because of how hard they play and the passion they bring. We've definitely added two outstanding high school high school talents to our program.”
