Howard Lands on All-Big Sky First Team

Bobby Howard and Marquis Navarre earned All-Big Sky honors on Wednesday
Montana State forward Bobby Howard, a junior from Great Falls, earned First Team All-Big Sky Conference honors for 2010, the league office announced on Wednesday.
One of only two players among the Big Sky's top 10 in both scoring and rebounding, along with fellow first team selection Jamie Jones of Portland State, Howard averaged 15.2 points ninth in the Big Sky) and 6.5 rebounds (fourth) per conference game this season. He shot 52.5% in the league, good for 9th, and his overall shooting percentage of 51.7% is 57th in Division I.
Howard helped lead MSU to a regular season-ending road win at Montana on Saturday, registering his second double-double, and has been involved in MSU's key moments this season. He registered a career-high five assists at Idaho State, the final coming on Branden Johnson's game-clinching three-pointer, to help MSU earn a key road victory, and his first double-double helped the Bobcats to a home win over NAU.
Bobcat guard Marquis Navarre earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors for his work as a senior. Navarre scored 11.9 points per game, 14th in the Big Sky, and shot 47.6% from three-point range in the league, good for fourth.
Howard joins guard Carlos Taylor in 2008 as Bobcats to earn First Team All-Big Sky honors under head coach Brad Huse, and is the first MSU underclassman so honored since Ja'Ron Jefferson in 2005.
